Pool Equipment Repair in Melbourne and Brevard County

Most repair calls we get are not mysteries. A pump that will not prime, a filter pressure reading that climbed 10 psi over a month, a salt cell reporting low output, a heater that lights and then shuts down. The parts are known, the failure patterns are known, and the fix is usually a same-visit or next-visit job once the part is on the truck.

We service and replace equipment from the three brands that cover most Brevard pools: Pentair, Hayward, and Jandy. Below is what actually fails, what it usually means, and what replacement looks like now that federal pump rules have changed what you are allowed to install.

Pump Repair and Replacement

The pump is the single most common repair on a Florida pool, and it is also the one where the rules changed underneath everybody.

Why you may not be able to replace it with the same pump

Federal Dedicated Purpose Pool Pump rules from the Department of Energy changed which pumps can be manufactured and sold. In practice, most single-speed replacement pumps above a certain size are no longer an option, and the replacement for a failed single-speed unit is a variable speed pump.

That surprises people, so it is worth saying plainly: if your single-speed pump dies, the quote you get back will usually be for a variable speed model. The upside is real. Pentair rates variable speed pumps at up to 90 percent lower energy consumption than a single-speed pump running 12 hours a day, and on a Florida pool that runs year round, the difference shows up on the power bill rather than in theory.

Filter Service and Repair

Filter pressure is the most useful number on the pad. A clean starting pressure, then a slow climb, then a cleaning. When pressure climbs fast, will not come down after a cleaning, or the filter is passing debris back into the pool, something has failed rather than just fouled.

Common failures are torn or collapsed cartridges, a cracked manifold, a failed tank o-ring, a bad pressure gauge giving you readings you cannot trust, and clamp band or belly band corrosion on older tanks. We service and replace Pentair Clean and Clear RP cartridge filters, Hayward SwimClear and StarClear, and Jandy cartridge filters.

Salt Systems and Cell Replacement

Salt chlorine generators are common across Brevard, and cells are consumable. They scale, they lose output, and eventually they stop producing. If your system reports low salt when the water tests fine, the cell sensor is often the actual problem rather than the salt level.

There is a live changeover worth knowing about on the Pentair side. The original IntelliChlor and iChlor cells have been superseded by IntelliChlor LT and IntelliChlor Plus, so a like-for-like replacement of an older cell is not always available. The current equivalents:

The newer cells are drop-in replacements for existing Pentair salt systems and work with the existing power center, so in most cases no replumbing is needed. They also use a modular design, which means a failed sensor or electronics module can sometimes be replaced without replacing the whole cell. Heater Repair

Heaters get used less in Brevard than further north, which is exactly why they fail quietly. A heater that sat all summer often reveals its problem the first cool week in November. Common issues are ignition and flame sensing faults on gas units, failed pressure switches, scaled heat exchangers on pools with high calcium, and control board failures.

We work on Pentair gas heaters and UltraTemp heat pumps, and Jandy JXiQ heaters. Heat pumps in particular suit Florida, since they extend the swim season efficiently in a climate where the ambient temperature rarely drops far.

Leak Detection and Plumbing Repair

A pool that drops more than normal evaporation is losing water somewhere. Before anyone starts cutting deck, the loss needs to be located: skimmer throat, return fittings, light niche conduit, valve or union at the pad, or the circulation lines themselves. Equipment-pad leaks are the cheapest to find and fix, and they are also the most common, so that is where we start.

Pool Light Repair

Lights fail through water intrusion at the fixture, degraded gaskets, corroded conduit, and failed transformers. Older incandescent fixtures are increasingly replaced with LED, which changes color options and cuts power draw substantially. We work with Pentair IntelliBrite and MicroBrite LED fixtures and Hayward LED lighting.

Automation and Controls

Automation fails in ways that look like other problems. A pump that will not come on at its scheduled time, a heater that will not fire, a light that will not respond, or a salt system reporting a fault can all trace back to the controller rather than the equipment itself.
